Class Reflection

Well FOR ONE I think I need to manage my time better. I wish I could have been more on point with the blog assignments I just never have the time to sit down and type something.

First AHA moment would be the very first time I bombed a quiz. Needless to say that would be a very good aha.

Second moment was when we were assigned that damn Internet Research Project. I personally found it distressing in its length and mind numbingly boring in its results. No more Internet Research Projects next quarter.

Third when we had to do our Presentation I guess I haven't spoken in public a lot, I've sang in public but to just to present a power point makes me very nervous. I think its because I have no connection to the material there by making me super antsy and prone to swallowing words.

Well Ill leave with this sketch from my portfolio it is called "Caught in the Current" don't let them drag you down.

Television

Length: 1:12
This video shows you that even in the midst of the Obama mania there are some that will satire it for television sake .

Media Ethics/Media Law

I am not sure if this is too the assignment but I know of a Privacy Intrusion Law suit that was leveled against Google by Rosemary Port. Basically this chick was smack talking some super model online on Blog Spot then the model sues Google for slander and demands the user to be named. Google in turn gave the model the users real name. Rosemary Port in turn sued Google for violation of privacy. http://www.reputationdefender.com/blog/2009/08/27/rosemary-ports-privacy-lawsuit-against-google-is-a-guaranteed-loser/

Propaganda in Advertising

Some techniques of the Propaganda that I found on Wikipedia.org are

Ad Nauseam
This argument approach uses tireless repetition of an idea. An idea, especially a simple slogan, that is repeated enough times, may begin to be taken as the truth. This approach works best when media sources are limited or controlled by the propagator.
I would think that Nike has cornered this market completely with their Swoosh Logo

Common man
The "plain folks" or "common man" approach attempts to convince the audience that the propagandist's positions reflect the common sense of the people.
This is also a good one because who wouldn't feel for the simple common man I mean that dude could have been my neighbors dad for all I know .

Electronic News

For my half-hour new show I went with something that had a very liberal bias I did this plain and simply because the right has such a horrible sense of humor that I don't think I can sit for half an hour and endure it. My chose was The Daily Show with John Stewart. The era of fake news is at a high right now, when Jon Stewart can interview President Obama and then go on to make a joke at Palin we that's just good television folks. Being on Comedy central most of the advertisement were targeted at my demographic squarely. Car insurance, beer, fast foods, dirty cartoons the works.  Lead story of the night being the Interview at the end of the show with President Obama. Now I don't think that the anchors on the Daily Show have segments as much as they have bits that they do. Concerning the staff we have the crazy right wing nuts who lampoon their own dogma with their buffoonish antics . On the other side we have the liberal almost granola crunching wussies(a direct description from one of those Right Wing nuts).I pretty much blanked out until the Obama interview which was riveting. Its a good system to make me watch the show. Not having a TeVo I can't record live TV so I had to wait till the end to get to the juicy part.

Internet

I see so many networking sites on the wiki page there must be at least a hundred. Some that I have never seen before would be Academia.edu. This site and its services are completely foreign to me I mean do academics really need to network well apparently they do. I personally use Facebook the most and with that only sparingly and only if I need to get a hold of a far away connection. I like to go out on the weekends and club it up, but sometimes I don't have time to call to RSVP with the power of Facebook clubs now do all their promotions and Reservations online. Sometimes this can be annoying when they bombard you with messages. At the same time more options means more effective decision making.

Movie or Recording

This is a video of Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan ; two very talented Irish musicians. They are preforming Volcano with a full band at Abbey Road Studios.
